Successful Fundraisers

The results are in for the spelling bee and fireworks fundraisers.  Thank you, Laura Bell, for organizing the spelling bee!  The event generated much-appreciated funds for the BSSEF.  In addition, due to the generous efforts of our volunteers and Jeremy Ueland's logistical work, the gross profit from fireworks sales was up a whopping 63% from last summer!

All BSSEF members are welcome to attend board meetings.  If you want to see changes in the BSSEF's programs, please share your input.

Nordic Team Needs Help for Gallatin Glissade

From Melissa Cronin:

This is your official call to arms! We need 12 fabulous and wonderful people to volunteer for the Gallatin Glissade on March 15.

There will be three road crossing that will need to be prepped, manned and maintained for the race. We need four people at each crossing to watch for traffic, fill in snow after a car passes, act as check point for racers and a final individual for comic relief and bell ringing (just kidding...). The volunteer commitment would be from about 8:30AM to 12:30PM.

We will also need help with the kids race at the end of the 18 km.

If you are interested, please contact Melissa Cronin.

Need Electronic Timer Operators - No Experience Necessary!

We need help in the timing shack on March 1st and 2nd for the Junior Open GS and SL races at Big Sky.  No experience is necessary.  If you are interested in helping out, contact Dave Bayless by e-mail or phone (406-581-3212), and he'll arrange to give you 30 minutes of dryland training over a cup of coffee next week.

One of the great bits of volunteer news this season is that three parents—Lance Trebesch, Zach Anderson, and Sarah Hetherington—have already learned how to help out in the timing shack at alpine races.  However, all three are going to be at Bridger Bowl watching their kids race in the YSL races during the weekend in question (and helping our BSF friends with the race, no doubt).  Consequently, we need one or two more parents to take the timing plunge.

Volunteers Needed for Junior Open on 3/1/08 - 3/2/08

It's race mania here in Gallatin County!  Although we just hosted the Lone Peak Super Speed Series last weekend, the BSSEF is hosting open (J3-A) races (GS/SL) at Big Sky on March 1st and 2nd, and we need your help.  As usual, we're looking for electronic timer operators, hand timers, scoreboard recorders and posters, and gate judges.
