2012 Gransberg Cup at Big Sky

The 2nd Annual Gransberg Cup will be held on Hangman's run at Big Sky on March 11, 2012.  Go to the race information page to volunteer and to download the race announcement, which contains more details regarding this fun event.

Coyle and Bildahl Pace Big Sky Team at Lone Peak Super Speed Series

Madison Bildahl and Alexa Coyle lead the Big Sky Alpine team to a strong showing at last weekend's SG series at Big Sky:

• Madison Bildahl (J1): 2 x 1st plast finishes, 1 x 2nd
• Alexa Coyle (J4): 2 x 1st, 1 x 2nd
• Valerie Hetherington (J4): 2 x 3rd
• Wesley Robbins (J4): 1 x 3rd
• Melissa Wills (J1): 1 x 3rd

In addition, Sean Bayless scored a personal best in SG on Saturday as measured by USSA points.

Great Job Big Sky Freeride Team!

BSSEF Freeride athletes competed in the Jackson Hole Junior Freeride Open this weekend and posted strong results.  Podiums included, Lucy Amsden, who took 2nd and Gracey Speth placed 3rd in the Girls 12-14 age group.  Jackson Raden placed 2nd in the Boys 12-14 age group and Micah Robin Placed 2nd in the 15-18 age group. Thanks for a Successful SG Series!

We ran over 400 runs of SG down Hangman's over the last three days without serious incident.  Note that the kids were averaging 35 to 45 mph down the course (i.e. up to 65 feet/second).  Given that the top and bottom of the course are pretty flat, that suggests top speeds approaching 50 mph or better.  Not too bad.

Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped this past weekend.  We, literally, couldn't have done it without you.  Results can be found on the My USSA web site (login required).

Spam Cup Information

The Spam Cup race in West Yellowstone starts at 11 am on Saturday. Registration is between 10 and 10:45. Please meet your coach at the Rendezvous ski area trailhead no later than 10:20.Here is the registration sheet:

Team Information for SG Series this Weekend at Big Sky

BSSEF athletes should be in the Mammoth Room by no later than 8:30AM each morning to meet with their coaches in order to receive their bibs and instructions for the day.  The team will meet in the Summit Hotel's parking garage at the end of the day's racing activities on Friday and Saturday to wax skis.
