5 @ 5 For $5 Nordic Series Starts 2/10/10

BSSEF Nordic is hosting the 5 @ 5 for $5 series starting Wednesday, February 10th.  All proceeds will go to support the BSSEF Nordic team's programs.

The series consists of a 5 kilometer race that starts at 5:00PM.  The start/finish line is on Aspen Leaf Drive near the recycling bins in Town Center.  A 3 kilometer race will start at 5:15PM.  As you might have guessed, the entry fee is $5.  Skiers can pre-register before Wednesday at Gallatin Alpine Sports in Big Sky.  Day of the race registration starts at 4:30PM at the start/finish line.

Reminder: Two Special Events on Saturday

Please join BSSEF parents, athletes, and coaches at two special events this Saturday, December 26th, at Big Sky Resort:

• At 9:30AM in the Mammoth Room on the second floor of the Mountain Mall, parents will have the opportunity to meet the team's coaches and BSSEF board members.
• At 3:15PM, the entire team, including Nordic, Freeride, Alpine, and Masters program athletes, coaches, and parents, will be gathering at Andiamo Italian Grille for an apres ski event to kick-off the season.

Freeride and Nordic Programs Meet and Greet

Coaches Kelli Rohrig and Scott Livingston are hosting a meet and greet for current and prospective Nordic and Freeride team members and their parents next Monday, November 30th, at the Hungry Moose Market in Big Sky from 5:45PM to 6:45PM.

Program Sign-up Night at Ophir School Tommorow

Head Coach Jeremy Ueland, other program coaches, and board members will be available during the basketball game tomorrow (Thursday, 11/12/09) from 3:30PM to 5:30PM at Ophir School in Big Sky to answer your questions and accept enrollments in all BSSEF programs (Alpine, Freeride, and Nordic).  If you miss the sign-up event, download and complete an application form and submit it with your payment per the instructions on the form.

Enroll Now for 2009-2010 Programs!

The BSSEF program application and handbook for the 2009-2010 season are available online here.

• Prices are frozen at last year's levels.
• New this year is a mid-week training option (for an additional fee) for YSL and Buddy Werner participants.
• The discounted fee deadline is 11/20/09 for the Devo and Buddy Werner programs and 12/1/09 for the YSL, Freeride, and Nordic programs.
• The calendar has been updated to reflect program start and end dates.

Program Price Freeze!

It's the Great Recession, and BSSEF knows that budgets are especially tight.  So, 2009-2010 program fees are going to be frozen at last season's levels.  Details will follow shortly and will be posted to this website.  Plan on enrolling by November 15, 2009, in order to take advantage of early season prices.

To make this work, we'll need your help.  Please volunteer generously to support fundraising events and competitions.  In the best of times, program fees only cover a portion of our costs.  In order to maintain and improve the quality of our programs, we depend on you.

Report on Gallatin Glissade

Well the Gallatin Glissade was a great success with the most racers ever. It was wonderful to see all of the great and smiling faces. It was very cool to see some young BSSEF racer complete the 18k course. Kudos to BSSEF members and parents for skiing a good race: Maria Locker, Ambrose Locker, Louisa Locker, Jackie robin, Howie Robin, Jackson Wade, Frances Cronin and Packy Cronin. We had many great volunteers including but not limited to: Denise Wade, Packy Cronin, Dan Wade, Barbara Rowley, Anna, Middleton, Katie Middleton, Niko Wade, Kelli Rorig, Melissa Cronin, the Gallatin Alpine Sports crew and the lone Mountain Ranch crew. Special thanks to: Gallatin Alpine Sports for prizes, volunteers and timing, Lone Mountain Ranch for trail passes for racers, grooming , course lay out, course marking, shuttle and much more. I will send results as soon as I can.

7th Annual Gallatin Glissade

BSSEF, Gallatin Alpine Sports, and Lone Mountain Ranch present the 7th Annual Gallatin Glissade on Saturday, March 14, 2009.  The Gallatin Glissade is a fun, point-to-point freestyle (i.e. either skate or classic) race.

On-site registration is from 7:30AM until 9:00AM.  The race fee is $35 for the 18 km and $10 for the 2 km.  Registration includes a t-shirt!

The 18 km starts at 6,900 feet at Lone Moose Meadows; the finish is at 6,200 feet at The Bunker on the Big Sky Golf Course:

The 2 km kids' race will start at 12:00PM and will be held on The Bunker Loops.
