Dave Bayless is looking for a handful of people to participate in an experimental, online learning program over the next several months. If you would like to learn how to use the SplitSecond software and other aspects of ski race timing, but may have been wary of a baptism-by-fire in the timing shack on race day, contact Dave.
At this point, the program is in the early stages of development and is free to participants in the beta test. You should have a willingness to experiment; be able to provide good, critical feedback; and have a basic comfort with computers and software. You'll need to have access to a computer with a broadband internet connection, a web cam, and a mic. You'll also need Skype.
Youth ski racing depends on capable parent-volunteers. But, the ski season is busy, and it's tough to learn some of the tools of the trade on-the-fly. With your help, we can develop a better way to build and maintain the capacity to host successful ski races in the Northern Division and across the U.S.
