If you are interested in participating in an Alpine and Freeride equipment ordering event, please let us know by voting below:

Scott Foster at Lone Mountain Sports has been a generous supporter of BSSEF over the years by offering new Alpine ski equipment to team members at very attractive prices.  However, because competition equipment is so personal, LMS can't afford to stock a big inventory of equipment.  Nevertheless, Scott is willing to host an equipment ordering event for the team, if there is sufficient demand.  Such an event would be along the following general lines:

• Scott would make his manufacturer's catalogs to make it easy to see all of the available options.
• Participants would, of course, have access to Scott's professional advice.
• Scott would place special orders at special team prices.  (Equipment and clothing inventories appear to be particularly tight this year, so order early.)
• Kids will be able to make boot-fitting appointments.

Order YSL Team Jackets Today - Supplies Limited

Place your order today with Lone Mountain Sports today to purchase a high quality Big Sky team jacket at the very special price of $105. (The cost of embroidered BSSEF and Big Sky logos is extra).  Act now, because supplies are very limited this season.

The Spyder Lethal Systems jacket (style 09-5116 color 600) is the jacket currently available that is most similar to the team jacket offered in Youth Ski League sizes last season.  The Lethal jacket is, as of now, available by special order from Spyder in junior sizes 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18. Spyder jackets tend to run a little small, so be sure to take a close look at the Spyder sizing chart.

To order, e-mail or call Carey Foster of Lone Mountain Sports at home (406-763-4861) or on her cell (406-580-4471).  You'll need to provide Carey with a credit card number at the time you place your order.  Once your jacket is delivered, we'll figure out how to get it embroidered.

If Spyder goes out of stock, you may be able to purchase the identical jacket at the regular retail price of $175 at Cabela's or other online retailers.  (As of 10/24/09, Cabela's had size 8 jackets in stock.)

U.S. Adaptive Skiing Championships Return to Big Sky

From First Tracks!! Online Ski Magazine:

After a five year break, the U.S. Adaptive Alpine Championships will return to Big Sky, MT March 28 - April 2. The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association's Championships were held at Big Sky for three consecutive years before moving venues. The reunion brings new hills and challenges for the athletes.

Northern Division Forms Due 12/1/09

All J3 and older Alpine competitors must submit the following 2009-2010 forms to Northern Division by 12/1/09:

• Medical Release
• Team Agreement/Code of Conduct
• Financial Agreement

Program Price Freeze!

It's the Great Recession, and BSSEF knows that budgets are especially tight.  So, 2009-2010 program fees are going to be frozen at last season's levels.  Details will follow shortly and will be posted to this website.  Plan on enrolling by November 15, 2009, in order to take advantage of early season prices.

To make this work, we'll need your help.  Please volunteer generously to support fundraising events and competitions.  In the best of times, program fees only cover a portion of our costs.  In order to maintain and improve the quality of our programs, we depend on you.

Board Meeting on 11/3/09 in Big Sky

The next meeting of the BSSEF Board will be held at 5:30PM on Tuesday, 11/3/09, at the BSSEF offices in Big Sky.  A map is embedded below:

2009-2010 Alpine Competition Schedule Available Online

The preliminary 2009-2010 Alpine competition schedule for Juniors (J1-J3) and YSL (J4-J6) athletes is available on the Northern Division website and the BSSEF calendar.  The calendar is subject to change, so please check back frequently.

BSSEF and Big Sky Resort are set to host three Alpine competitions in 2010:

• A FISU (college) event in January
• The Junior Super-G series in February, and
• The U.S. Disabled Ski Championships in late March

It looks like Junior racers will be able to participate in the DH at the U.S. Disabled Ski Championships, as well.

Board Meeting on Tuesday, 10/13/09, in Bozeman
