Report from Targhee Tee-Off

The following are Melissa Cronin's perspectives on the recent freeride competition at Targhee:

On March 21st- 23rd the Big Sky Ski Education Foundation's Freeride Team traveled to Grand Targhee for the Jr. Freeride competition. Erin Kempt (12) and Frances Cronin (11) represented our team for in the girls 11 to 14 year old division and Micha Robin (12), Joey Manship (14), Solly Amsden(14) and Jackson Bodker(14) skied in the men's 11-14 year division. There were two age divisions 11-14 and 15 to 17 years old, all of BSSEF's athletes were in the younger category.

Devo Training on Saturday

Coach Jeremy Ueland says there will be slalom training tomorrow (Saturday, 3/27/09) for the Development Team.  Currently, no training is scheduled for Sunday, unless specifically requested.

Deal on US Ski Team Speed Suit

If you are in the market for a top-of-the-line speed suit, Todd Frank in Missoula has deal for you.  He recently bought a men's XS Spyder USA race suit (click on photo for larger view).  Unfortunately, it was the wrong size.  Because Todd got the suit at a special (less than wholesale) price of $540 (the suit retails for a cool $1,500), he can't exchange it.  So...if you want a world cup quality speed suit, give Todd a call (406-544-9331) or send him an e-mail.

Report from Targhee Tee Off

From coach Kelli Rohrig:

Erin Kempt, Frances Cronin, Micah Robin, Joey Manship, Jackson Bodtker and Solly Amsden all competed this weekend at the Grand Targhee Tee Off. The Tee Off is a junior Freeride competition in it's second year. Frances and Micah were not only rookies to this competition, but rookies on the official IFSA Freeride scene. The two rookies skied like ducks to water- they both ripped great lines and made an impression on the competition.

The rest of the team made enormous improvements from last year and made their coaches and parents smile! Our biggest improvement was demonstrated by the kids catching bigger than normal air and landing every time. All 6 skiers made extremely agressive turns and skied challenging lines. Solly and Jackson qualied for the semi finals today.

BSF's Eric Haferman Wins GS at Junior Olympics

Eric Haferman and Tom Swanson placed 1st and 9th, respectively, in yesterday's GS race at the Western Region Junior Olympics at Brundage Mountain, Idaho.  BSSEF's Coulter Tate finished 72nd.

On the girls' side, Carter Theade paced the Northern Division with a 12th place finish.  Big Sky's Madison Bildahl placed 32nd.

Spyder Stealth Found at YSL Championships

Madison Bildahl Paces Northern Division at JO Super-G Race

Madison Bildahl placed 24th at yesterday's SG race at Brundage Mountain, Idaho, to lead the Northern Division girls' team.  BSF's Eric Haferman made the podium with a third place finish.  Big Sky's Coulter Tate was a DNF.  Complete results follow:
